To me black and white presents a different challenge than photographing in color.  Color has an innate emotional appeal,  black and white can only use contrast,  texture and light to interpret an image.  And yet it is the ability of black and white to isolate,  to emphasize that which a photographer sees as important which makes black and white so challenging to me.
